we care about sustainable design

At Bellwether Architects we are inspired by the world around us, so we design buildings that respect and complement the environment they inhabit. We are always looking for new technologies in building science that will reduce the carbon footprint of our designs to ensure a sustainable world for future generations.

Our commitment to our planet runs deep. In 1991, Chris Huston’s college thesis was the “Greening of Boston- Federal Courthouse,” before the severity of carbon levels in our atmosphere was a widely understood issue. Since then, Chris has been involved with many environmentally focused initiatives. He is currently leading the Greater Middlebury Climate Economy – Energy Task Force. Other past organizations and positions include: Vermont Green Building Network, Vice President; Efficiency Vermont Design Professionals Advisory Committee; Habitat for Humanity; Vermont Forum on Sprawl; and the Green Round Table.
