It had been several decades since the bar and restaurant at the Killington Grand Resort was originally built. The bar was tucked in the far corner of the restaurant, making it dark and disconnected from the mountain. As Killington has become known as the premier ski destination in the East, the existing bar and restaurant required a gut renovation to appeal to Killington’s guests and to be a venue of the quality and atmosphere appropriate to this rugged mountain setting. Fondly named after Killington’s original founder, Preston L. Smith, the new restaurant and bar became Preston’s.
Previously separated from the multi-story main lobby, the new design created a large, welcoming entrance to the gracious, L-shaped bar. With increased guests’ usage throughout the year, the design solution provides easy access to the outdoor heated pool and views to the ridge line beyond. A palette of natural, locally-sourced materials creates a warm, rustic, yet refined modern interior. A variety of seating styles were included to enhance the guest experience and provide ultimate flexibility to Killington’s visitors.
